Reading Runes for others was a choice that I didn’t really make myself. I was at a Medieval event in 2016 when a member of the public came into our encampment with her programme and asked who was doing the Rune readings in our group. My friend and I looked at each other, puzzled. No one in our group was but the woman showed us the programme and it was definitely there!
Although I had been doing reading Runes for myself for a little while, I had never done a reading for anyone else before. I explained this to the woman but she was happy enough so we both decided to give it a go. I remember being SO nervous as I lead the woman into my tent. Not having planned on doing any readings, we had no table to sit at, so we sat on my bed and I did my first ever Rune reading. The woman was so amazed by what I had said that she asked if she could go and get her daughter to have one too. I think I did four readings that weekend.
The next month, at another event, the same thing happened! I couldn’t believe it. I had been wanting to make a move more into the spiritual side of my Viking life for quite some time so I took this as a sign and started on my new path as a Seiðkona (Seer). In the ‘real’ world, I had just started attending a weekly spiritual development class and was learning more about opening myself up to the world of spirit. It all came together perfectly. That same feeling I had when I first sat with the Viking group at the Abbey came back to me – a sense of coming home.
Even though I have always felt a connection to the world of spirit and to the ancient ways, I had never taken it any further than dabbling every now and then with Tarot and Oracle cards. Once I started delving more into this part of my life, there was no turning back.
The feeling I get from reading the Runes is something I can’t fully explain. At times it’s like I know I am talking but the words are just flying out of my mouth. There’s no thinking involved. Other times it’s like I can see or feel things that I have to find the right words for. Sometimes I can feel what the person I am consulting the Runes for is feeling – sadness, fear, etc. In one reading the Runes might tell a story that flows while in another, it’s like putting a jigsaw puzzle together. It definitely depends on how open the person is to receiving the message that the Runes have to share. While each Rune has it’s own particular meaning, they do not always give me the message relating to that meaning. They find their own way of getting the message through.
What I love about the Runes is that they will always tell you what you need to know, not necessarily what you want to know. At times this can be frustrating for the person who wants to know the answer to a particular question but sometimes there are more important things that they need to work on first.
The sense of fulfilment that I get from consulting the Runes for others is like nothing else I have experienced. I don’t even know how to describe it. I guess blessed would be the best word and grateful next. You know that feeling you get when you do something really nice for someone and you can see how happy it makes them then it makes you all warm and fuzzy inside? Well, I guess it’s a bit like that only about 1 000 000 times better!
Since my initial impromptu reading, I’ve lost count of the number of readings I’ve done. It’s only been a short time since I started but I feel like I’ve been doing it for ever.
I offer face to face, Skype and phone readings – 30 minute and one hour readings. I also attend various Psychic Fairs and do Rune readings at Medieval Events on the Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast and more. Please check my Events page for more information.
