Law of Attraction

I mention the Law of Attraction a lot so I thought I’d create a page about it, in case you don’t know what it is and would like to know more.

Law of Attraction came into my life (consciously) when I was working part time for a Finance Broker back in 2008.  His wife had just bought “The Secret” and she invited me to watch it with her one day.  I was blown away – not only by what I was seeing but because I knew that I (like most people) had been using this all my life without knowing it.  In fact, whether you believe in Law of Attraction or not, there is no way not to use it.  After watching The Secret, I was so excited that I finally knew of a way to consciously attract what I wanted into my life.

However, after years of thinking a certain way, it’s hard to change your thoughts.  I’ve struggled with this over time and there are definitely patterns and self limiting beliefs within me that I am still working on.  Some things I can attract easily and some, at this stage, I find difficulty to attract, but I’m not worried.  I know this will change and I will get there!

I ended up watching The Secret about 1000 times (well, not quite so many … If you get to know me, you’ll find that I tend to exaggerate, just a little bit!  A beautiful old friend of mine told me once that she thought I should go to an Exaggerated Anonymous group. 🙂 ) Anyway, I felt like I couldn’t get enough of the movie.  Each time I watched it, I discovered something new.  After a while, I decided to check out the person who resonated with me the most on the movie and that was Esther Hicks, “Abraham Hicks – Law of Attraction”.

Since then, I’ve found out that there are two versions of The Secret.  I only saw the second one for the first time the other day and I recommend that, if you have a choice, you definitely watch the first.  The first movie not only has Esther Hicks in it but it also talks about the most important part of the Law of Attraction and that is feeling.

But what is it?

Well, you can think of Law of Attraction as ‘like attracts like’ but I like to think of it as ‘what you focus on is what you get’.  Basically, when you think about something that you want, or don’t want, and think about it long enough, you bring about an emotion (feeling) which becomes attached to having or not having that thing – and that attracts it into your life.  The key is to feel the happiness of having that ‘thing’ in your life, before you have it.  That’s what manifests it into reality.  Abraham says there are three steps to Law of Attraction:

1.   Ask

Have a clear picture in your mind, find the feeling of having it and ask for what you want.  Then let it go.  I’ll give you an example.  Imagine you’ve just ordered an amazing meal at a restaurant.  You’re excited about it coming out to you but you’re not in the kitchen with the chef, checking that he’s using the right ingredients or asking how long it’s going to take.  You just order it, let it go, and enjoy your wine and conversation while you’re waiting for it.

2.  Believe

Believe that what you are manifesting can and will come into your life and trust. Don’t doubt it for a second!  If you find yourself starting to question it; maybe you think it’s taking too long or perhaps you feel that you’ve asked too much … just stop that thought straight away!  Instead, think of something that feels good.  Or think about the things that have already come into your life and be grateful for having them. Whatever you do, don’t let your monkey mind take you down that path of negativity or doubt.

3.   Receive

This has been one of the hardest steps for me to achieve.  You need to put yourself into the place of receiving.  That means you need to be in a good place within yourself. You need to be grateful for all that is happening in your life and believe that you deserve what you have asked for.  Abraham always something along the lines of, “You can’t pick up (say) 92.7 FM on your radio station while you’re tuned into the AM station”. If you have done steps 1 and 2 and your ‘thing’ is not manifesting, make sure that you’ve got the right vibration going on to be in a place of receiving.

Another important factor in this receiving step is action.  It’s not up to you to become a detective and find out how your manifestation is going to come about.  The Universe will do that.  What you need to do is to be open to receiving the ‘messages’ that come to you.  You might feel a sudden urge to do something, inspiration to call a certain person or follow something up or you will get an idea that seems to come out of nowhere.  When this happens, act immediately!  Don’t doubt it for a second.

Skeptical?

That’s ok.  I’m not here to make you believe.  I just hope, that by sharing what I know to be true, I can help someone else find a way to manifest their dreams and desires.  If you are ready to try this, then that’s great.  If you’re not, that’s fine too.  We are all on our own journey.

However, for those who tell me that it doesn’t work, I do have something to say.  I have seen this work in my life too many times for it to be coincidence or good luck.  I have manifested amazing opportunities, people and material objects into my life.  I have also manifested debt, unhappy situations and loss.  We are all creators of our own experience and I am aware enough to know that I have created both good and bad in my life through the Law of Attraction.
